Today on your show we focus on “AI – Ethics, Geopolitics and Social Responsibility”
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human cognitive abilities by computer systems and machines, enabling them to perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence. As AI becomes more integrated into our lives and its role in decision-making expands across various industries, more ethical issues and concerns are becoming apparent. Ethics of AI represent a set of moral principles and guidelines that advise the development, responsible use, and outcome of AI. They remain a key factor in designing AI tools and they are adaptable to different forms of AI equipment and systems. The BIG questions is; Should society be concerned?

Peter Mackinnon Introduction
Today’s guest is Peter MacKinnon, a pioneer in AI policy and commercialization since the early 1980s. He is a Senior Research Associate, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ottawa. Today he serves on the IEEE-USA Artificial Intelligence Policy Committee as an advisor to the White House and the US Congress on AI. Peter has an eclectic career path having been a scientist, entrepreneur, business executive, bureaucrat, Canadian diplomat, academic. Peter earned two Bachelor’s degrees in Earth sciences and a Master’s in glaciology prior to commencing a PhD in the same field at the University of Colorado (Boulder).
