Today on your show we talk about “Advertising in the 21st Century”. Advertising is a means of communication with the users of a product or service.
Advertisements are messages paid for by those who send them and are intended to inform or influence people who receive them to want to buy. The use of the internet has enabled multiple new channels for the “message” to be delivered. But what do users want? And what techniques do advertisers use in the emerging world of digital advertising?
Guest: Guy Stevenson.
Guy Stevenson was employed by Ogilvy a large multi-national advertising agency, and after 32 years retired in 2019. Ogilvy is one of the world’s leaders in advertising. For the last 18 years of his employment he was Managing Director of their largest division here in Toronto. He originally went into advertising account management, ending up as a specialist in database marketing which morphed into digital adverting. Guy completed an honours BA degree at U of T specializing in History and Political science. He set up his own advertising consultancy in late 2019.
